Ever since I joined the Prince George's County Board of Education in 2015, the engagement of District 7 was a paramount service I wanted to offer our students, families, staff, and communities that were not properly served for years.
During my tenure on the Board, every school year, I hosted two district-wide town hall events every school year, one for the fall/winter and another for the spring/summer, throughout different schools in District 7.
The turnout and conversations held at these town halls have not only enriched my advocacy efforts as a Board member, but have also given me a deeper insight into, both, the struggles and successes of the district.
Many who have attended these town halls have requested a more frequent occurrence so that timely messages and updates could be shared. Today, that request has been fulfilled.
I am proud to announce the creation of the District 7 Education Roundtable, a community-based forum comprised of community leaders, citizens, educators and students from the 10 communities and 20 education facilities within District 7. The Education Roundtable's core mission is to advise me on community, school, budgetary and Board policy matters.
The Education Roundtable meetings will be held once a month during the months of September, November, January, March and May.
