Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, my alma mater, was given the award for the best high school in the nation by the 2014 Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards. The purpose of the award is to uplift the positive events that are taking place in neighborhoods across America. Instructional Director Carletta Marrow & Assistant Principal William Blake accepted the award on behalf of the school community.

The school was nominated for the award by creating a school culture where students are being prepared to graduate college and career ready in a diverse learning environment to become productive citizens in a global society.
