Working Hard in the General Assembly!

As a Legislative Aide for Maryland State Senator Ulysses Currie, I worked hard to pass several key pieces of legislation during the 2014 Session. One bill in particular held close importance to me, as someone who studies Education Policy. Senate Bill 785 establishes a scholarship fund to aide Community College graduates to achieve their Bachelor's Degree from a Maryland 4 year college or university.
On Monday, May 5th, Governor O'Malley signed Senate Bill 785 which was sponsored by Senator Ulysses Currie and renames the Community College Transfer Scholarship to the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship. The scholarship can be used for three years or six semesters whichever is longer; requires $2-million to be transferred from the Needs-Based Student Financial Assistance Fund under certain circumstances.
